TALES OF HOFFMANN 2

The experiences of and International Business Investigator

By G.H. Hoffmann, Sr.

It is some years since our Consultant, G.H. Hoffmann, Sr., wrote Tales of Hoffmann 1. In the meantime he has been asked many times to write a sequel. Finally he has done so. The book was first published in Dutch and an English translation is now available under the title Tales of Hoffmann 2.

The book consists of incidents from the author’s experiences, first as a counter intelligence officer, then as a business investigator. It is an easy and interesting read  which carries the reader along, but also shows how easily irregularities can arise and what preventive measures can be taken.

The book consists of a collection of 46  true stories written by one of the first professional international business investigators in the Netherlands who has some 40 years experience of solving and preventing business crime. Stealing, misleading, threatening and lying are often recurring themes. Whether it is the director who cheats his fellow directors or shareholders, the stores supervisor who lives beyond his means, the buyer who works on ‘commission’, the personnel manager who has his home rebuilt by the company’s employees, or employees who for years have been helping themselves, fraud is often staggering and sometimes extremely stupid. The Dutch publisher described the book as an encouragement for all those who, sometimes despite daily frustrations and temptations, private as well as business, remain honest to make the world a better place.
